Piano Lesson
Pre-School Kids
At this age, piano lessons focus on introducing musical concepts through fun, engaging activities. We explore the piano keys, basic rhythms, and finger exercises to develop dexterity, all in a playful and encouraging environment. Lessons are highly interactive and short in duration, using musical games, singing, and colourful visuals to maintain focus and foster enjoyment. We work on recognising patterns on the keyboard, finger number awareness, clapping simple rhythms, and playing short, easy tunes to build early confidence.
Young Children
For young children, lessons introduce note reading, hand coordination, and simple pieces that let them experience the joy of playing music from the start. I incorporate fun songs and well-known melodies that children can relate to, keeping them engaged while gradually introducing more challenging material. Lessons are structured but enjoyable, with a focus on learning to read music, playing scales, and performing beginner-level pieces with both hands. Basic music theory and ear training are also included to support their playing.
Older Children
Older children delve into more complex pieces and develop their technique, sight-reading skills, and musical interpretation. Lessons strike a balance between technical drills and expressive playing, designed to challenge students while allowing them to explore music they enjoy. We work on mastering scales and arpeggios, sight-reading more complex music, and interpreting both classical and contemporary pieces. Music theory related to their repertoire is integrated into lessons to deepen their understanding and artistry.
Adults
Lessons for adults are performance-oriented, designed to ensure that you can start playing recognisable pieces early on. We prioritise learning music that excites you, focusing on foundational skills like reading music, hand coordination, and understanding chord progressions and scales. Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether that means learning specific songs, improving reading skills, or mastering the ability to accompany yourself or others. The focus is on playing enjoyable music while building practical techniques and hand independence, allowing you to progress at your pace and enjoy the piano without excessive technical drills.
